There have been many special events taking place in Amalfi over the past week for la Settimana Santa, or Holy Week, leading up to Easter this Sunday. Pasqua (Easter) in Italy is an important religious holiday, and almost every town—small or large—has events for Venerdì Santo (Holy Friday). For more information on Pasqua in Campania, including videos of last year’s Processione del Cristo Morto in Amalfi, head over to Charming Italy to read the article I wrote on Easter in Campania. I’ll be at the procession this evening, hoping to get some better shots and videos on my new camera to share here on Ciao Amalfi. Wishing all of you a happy and peaceful Easter weekend!

Hello there! I’ve been following your blog because I’m interested in learning more about the Amalfi Coast; my fiance and I are possibly considering this area as our honeymoon destination! Your blog has been very helpful and informative! We will be getting married April 14 of next year and are planning to begin honeymooning on the 16th or 17th! I noticed that the weather is extremely pleasant right now. We’re not looking to be beach bums for 10 days (we wish to go hiking, take day trips and sightsee.. but catching rays will be nice, too!), but I wanted to know from someone living there what the weather is generally like at this time of year. Is it a good time to plan our trip?! Feel free to email me if needed. Grazie!!! 🙂

Ciao Angela,
Thanks for your nice comment. So glad you’ve been enjoying Ciao Amalfi! Sounds to me like you’re thinking is spot on for your wedding on the Amalfi Coast next April. The weather can be very lovely here … but it can also be a little rainy and cool. So it’s best to be prepared for both so you’re not surprised. For me, the water is still too cold to enjoy swimming, but some of the locals are certainly out in April. But when the sun is shining it’s great for enjoying the beach without the summer crowds. But if your plan is to hike, go sightseeing and do other day trips, April should be fine. But it is still early spring, so the weather can be unpredictable. On Sunday I was out enjoying the sun and tonight it is rainy and cool. I would just recommend that you keep that in mind when you’re planning a wedding reception location … to make sure of their indoor and outdoor facilities. Feel free to contact me at ciao.amalfi@gmail.com if you have more detailed questions during your wedding planning process.
Congratulations!!
Laura
