Last week I was walking along a quiet stone pathway in Ravello, and the sun shining on this old wooden doorway caught my attention. I stopped, admired all the different beige colored textures and tones, and then continued on my way. After a few steps, I stopped again, dug through my bag and returned to take this photo. As I continued down the staircase, I wondered what I would do with the image. Remembering the number 13 on the ceramic tile, I thought it would be fun to post on a Photo Friday the 13th. And, as it turned out, I didn’t have to wait long! (In Italy, it’s Friday the 17th that you want to look out for, since that’s generally considered the bad luck day.)
All of the buildings in Ravello are adorned with these beautiful ceramic tiles indicating the address number. The church depicted on the tile is the Chiesa della SS. Annunziata that you see so beautifully from above in the Villa Rufolo. I love this little artistic touch in Ravello. Wishing you all a happy – and lucky – weekend ahead!
