Walking anywhere on the Amalfi Coast during the warm summer months, you can’t miss seeing the lizards darting around and ducking into the holes in walls. Occasionally one will get lost and end up in a strange place in the house, although I have yet to be able to figure out how they even get in. The garden cats generally do a pretty good job of keeping them away from the house though. It is rare to see these little lizards, which I think are technically anoles, sitting still. The other day on my way to Amalfi, I came across this little guy who seemed to enjoy having his photo taken. Perhaps he just wanted to show off his vivid green color and long tail to the world!

Shows where my head is at….when I saw the title, "Out & About: Showing Off," I thought it was a post about the stunningly good-looking men prancing around the southern piazzas in the sun! LOL Men, lizards, am I far off? 😉

Ciao Anne! Yes, they usually are darting about so fast you can't even see them let alone get a camera out of a bag and compose a picture. Yes… the postcards did arrive! Will be writing to you soon… 🙂
Ciao Lisa! So sorry to disappoint you! 😉 Just yesterday I was admiring a man in your town (Sorrento) who had managed to pull off an ensemble of pink pants, light blue shirt, blue sweater draped artistically over the shoulders, blue leather belt, and blue suede shoes. (Yes, blue suede shoes.) Only in Italy I thought!

They are beautiful, almost like someone had painted them!

Ciao Chuck! I think they are pretty, too! As long as they stay out of the house… 🙂
