Last weekend I was sitting down on the beach in Amalfi, and I loved the way the beach umbrellas looked lined up and wrapped tightly for the night. Since I had some time to kill, I entertained myself by experimenting a bit with my camera. I like how this image came out, with the red and white umbrellas against the strangely blue night sky. Wishing everyone a sunny and fun summer weekend!

Thanks, Mom! That’s what I was trying to capture … how serene the beach looked. Let’s just say there were not so serene things going on at that moment, but what I learned was that taking photos is a big distraction while working on non-reacting! 🙂 It freezes things in time and makes you focus on what is more lasting in the moment than something frustrating or irritating. The beach umbrellas are serene and peaceful regardless of what is going on around them. Let’s just say I was channeling the calm of the beach umbrellas! Haha! 🙂

Love this picture. My boyfriend and I went to Italy for the first time in October 2010, spending five days in Sorrento (we went to Amalfi and Agerola – where my step-father’s family is from – while we were there) and really loved the area. I’ll be devouring your blog for information…as I WILL be going back in the future!

Ciao Salena! Thanks for stopping by! So happy to hear that you had a wonderful visit to the area, and especially that you were able to visit where your step-father’s family is from. What an experience! Hope you will be back soon! 🙂
