I know with all the terrible snow, flooding and bad storms around Europe and American these days that I don’t really have any right to complain about the near constant rain we’ve been having here on the Amalfi Coast. While winter weather on the Amalfi Coast can be a bit, well, glum, the winter storms do bring with them some rough seas that can be quite exciting. The shot above is looking toward the Hotel Luna in Amalfi. Let’s just hope no one was walking by when that wave crashed against the rocks!
Over by the port the rough seas have already damaged some of the railings. I think these have to be fixed just about every year. And here’s why:
The power of the sea is always impressive to me. It is there so calm and clear some days, but in the back of my mind I remember just what it is capable of. Hope the weather for all you reading will improve soon!

Nature a force not to be argued with.
Here in Lazio we also have very very wet and cold weather unlike friends and family around the world coping with snow.

Hello Laura..we have had really bad weather in Oxfordshire, with the snow, ice and extreme freezing weather, but the rain is annoying..especially when it is constant.

I've come to the conclusion that this weather is better than the lack of rain and all of the heat that some parts of the world are having!

I'm right there with you on how the rain can bring you down a bit. Though I am thankful it didn't seem as bad this Dec. as last years. But then there are days like yesterday – gorgeous! Sunny! ahhh…. ☺

Whoa. Those are frightening pictures… especially the massive waves hitting the homes on the cliff. It's amazing that you're so close to Naples and yet here and in the surrounding suburbs it's been relatively beautiful with very little rain. I see snow capping Mt. Vesuvius from my window, but walk around with a turtleneck and no jacket. Be well.

I love winter by the sea. I spent my formative years in out-of-season seaside towns in the north and west of England, and consequently have a real soft spot for days when the waves are crashing against the breakwater and the wind is whipping my clothes and hair into a tangled mess. I think it's got a lot to do with the spectacular terror it inspires. It gets the adrenalin pumping and brings out the wild side of me. Just beautiful.
