Tomorrow is International Women’s Day, which is called La Festa della Donna in Italy. Is this day celebrated in America? I certainly hadn’t heard of it before now. The symbol of the day here is the yellow mimosa, which has recently started blooming on the Amalfi Coast. It is such a striking color! You can see it dotting the hills and terraces in the area. This will be my first time in Italy during La Festa della Donna, so I have been reading about it. Here is a nice article about La Festa della Donna by Bleeding Espresso’s Michelle Fabio on Italy Magazine online. It seems to be a rather strange day here, which varies from the receiving of mimosas (always nice) to more raucous and bawdy forms of celebrating (use your imagination). I can’t repeat some of the stories I have heard when I asked people about the day and how it is celebrated. The idea behind the day is nice, but I think, perhaps, I will just stick with the mimosas!

Ciao Chuck! Grazie! I have enjoyed the day. The weather was beautiful and I spent the morning and afternoon walking in Amalfi and at the beach. Yeah sun!
