Italy has changed me in so many wonderful and unexpected ways. I am sure anyone who has spent a significant amount of time in another country would say the same thing. For instance, I have noticed that I have gone from being the slightly uptight, exceedingly punctual, and far too serious perfectionist to being the much more relaxed, on time (but just barely) person, with a nickname in Italian that roughly translates as “silly pepper.” It is amazing what a difference two years can make!
And now something else I never expected has happened. I have fallen in love with Twitter! It has only been in the last year that I have started to discover the virtues of social networking. I am a latecomer I guess you could say. However, since joining Twitter a little over a month ago, I have been continually surprised by the amazing people I have met there. I have discovered a large community of travel writers, travelers, and people in the travel industry sharing fabulous tweets (what the posts on Twitter are called) every day. In such a short time, I have connected with people who share tidbits of travel information, news, super ticket deals, and their travel thoughts, writings and experiences from where they live all over the world. The sense of community I have discovered there impresses me more day by day. Yes, I have become a definite Twitter fan!

I look forward to seeing you all there! While writing this post I found I had the following song in my head, which I now nominate as the official Twitter song:

It’s so great following you on Twitter! 🙂 I hope Italy has some positive effects on me when I finally get over there for a longer period of time. I know I like who I become when I’m there on vacation! 🙂
